The contracts will be at the Client's leisure and that's where the problem is. Is there enough pressure on them to clean things up? If ever there was a poster child for industry that resists being sustainable and ecologically aware, then mining would have to be that industry.

I'm not sure that there's enough public concern or legislation to make them do things any differently. Even coal is having another moment - screw the environment, coal stocks have done very well. For all the talk of ESG hand-wringing, a lot of folk have done very well off the nasty black rocks this year. As always, money first, environment second.
