Open to speculation but I expect she has a specific plan in mind. As noted in The Australian this morning, who were writing about her surprise raid on Azure (and her happily buying at a premium too apparently - Euroz Hartley doing some of her buying after the share price had already run the first time, post-the Chilean takeover bid):

“...With a lazy $20bn or so in cash floating around, Hancock won’t be too worried in the short term – but the thinking behind the decision remains puzzling, given Hancock usually doesn’t splash cash without a clear purpose.”

Industry observers aren’t sure what that purpose is yet but undoubtedly Gina has one and it’s certain to be vastly superior to what our downrampers and shorters here have in mind.... > Twenty billion dollars in cash <
