I personally have been on the receiving end of directors who do nothing to increase the share price but solely focus on the fundamentals. Yes it’s great because everything is ticking along nicely, but when you’d want to sell some shares to get into something else cheap, buy a house or a million other reasons people need money), the share price is so low you don’t want to sell.
Not only is it bad for the above reason, but when they need to do a cap raise, they need to issue more shares to raise the same amount of money compared to if the share price was higher.
So I agree with Lucretius in that I am mooore than happy the CEO is spruiking the company, it’s clearly worked, the share price is up 20%! If they weren’t achieving goals then yes I’d say they need to focus on the fundamentals, but they have ticked boxes. So to me, why not do both!
Now the share price is higher, I have the option to take some off the table if I feel like it.
