"as a non-holder what's your great interest? " -- how are prospective investors supposed to gauge the performance if they don't tell the market?

Agree with most posters here - the interest earnings from the company are a feature of the model and is positive. However they need to use this money to figure out what to do for the future as interest earnings are easily chipped away with decreasing cash balances. Even commsec is now more competitive than SWF for <$1000 trades (not sure how big a segment that market is) with $5 trades, while $1k-$3k trades are $10 which is on par with SWF and probably better when you factor in the fact that someone with 10k cash is earning 1.25% there (34c/day).
