Looks like it's the marketing cost of getting rid of the blobby people... They need to take a leaf out of the marketing at the more sophisticated end of town and keep it simple but professional.
AWS has a tendency to 'creep' rather quickly in the costs, especially as you get into an AWS tunnel vision and stop thinking about architecture for yourself. Some start-ups have opted to run their own private clouds and reduced Opex by up to 50%.
