With medium to large caps, that's often the case. Sometimes with small caps too.
Buying the Nov/Dec uptrend, especially after it broke past the August high would have been the worst time to buy in a year. Selling the downtrend in October last year after it broke support of the high 4's also would have been terrible timing and the worst time to sell in a year.
At some point, the trend will be your friend. When the finances are finalised and the trend becomes a long term up trend. Until then, buying lows and selling highs seems to have been the better strategy.
Buyers seem keen enough in the mid 4's again. Accumulating ahead of the next turn higher.
