It's interesting looking at the shipping distances too. You'd think Brazil for example would be a whole lot further from Cabinda than Richards Bay in SA.
In fact
Cabinda to Richards Bay is 2600nm
Cabinda to Brazil is only 400nm further at 3,000nm to either Sao Luis, or to Salvador
However to China is over 10,000nm.
China is a big importer of Phosphate and Brazil has a very big agricultural base, they might even get some back loads shipping wise with all the grains Angola imports.
Foskor have a real need to supplement their phosphate (see my previous posts). My guess (and it is a guess) is they are haggling over price, Minbos are letting them know there are other potential customers out there. Brazil was actually mentioned from the get go when exports were 1st mentioned and of course China through Hong Kong Jason has also been at the forefront.
