Check out Hazer (ASX:HZR) process looks better than the steam methane reforming process above with 50% lower CO2 emissions (less CO2 to sequester since that’s the goal....). Graphite is also a handy byproduct from the process.
Really though, I don’t understand the point in blue hydrogen and I think of hydrogen as the secondary product of the above. However, green Hydrogen is a good battery option for storage of excess renewable energy. Just like pumping water uphill for hydroelectric generators, and molten salt storage and compressed air storage for turbine generators. They will all have their place in the energy mix one day and natural gas will stay at the top, as the king or, queen of all fossil fuels for many many many years to come.
