I had the same thought this morning when I first read the update.
Reading between the lines, I thought to myself, perhaps they will confirm commercially viable flow rates at Kiwi-1 and the field size which will be the catalyst which sees Santos taking over both fields... Timeline of 6-8 months roughly?
Does make you wonder though, with Natural Gas prices sitting at a low point and below forecasted price growth, why wouldn't Santos have a crack at BAS now?
