I think that is a bit unfair.
The project risks were there for everyone to see.
Given the LINC energy (QLD) history and the general environmental sensitivity around brown coal etc. we all knew they were pushing this up hill.
PLUS - I believe many of the staff at NRZ have substantial shareholdings - they are sharing in the pain.
Yeah, I agree some of the top guys are being paid outrageous salaries - that's a given.
And maybe they saw the writing on the wall a while back - but, if they just walked away saying "this is too hard" you'd probably be equally critical.
This was always a punt.
If you want more certainty - buy blue chip.
