It's been in a correction for 8 months, but as always, trends reverse at some stage and maybe we are there now. The small cap bear market is very likely to end this year based on falls for many of as much as 90-95% over the last 1-2 years. That was the worst bear market for small caps in decades and that leaves the sector open for one of the best bull markets in decades. No one can be sure when that will start but now that interest rates look increasingly like they have peaked seems like the time is about right.
Minbos got off lightly thanks to a very small capex requirement, a commodity that is very much needed and a simple, high margin project with a decent moat. By moat, I mean it's difficult for competitors to compete because of how well MNB's fertiliser is suited to Angola's high acid soils and high rainfall combined with the lower cost of MNB's fertliser.
Funding news on Minbos is probably not far off. If that comes in over the next 1-2 months, MNB will be a producer this year.
The chart of MNB looks like the down trend slowed in November and a good base has formed over the last two months.
