What sort of impact is the mine going to have on residents?

Speaking from personal experience it is extremely difficult for a mine to be approved in Australia when housing is within 1km of operations. And that is only one house let alone a township! Obviously if the company is targeting underground operations the impact is different than open cut which is what my experience is based on.

Talk about bad luck that of 234 square k's of tenement the deposit occurs literally on the towns doorstep
