Well the company is an entity. It is the entity that becomes debt free. Although shareholders are part owner. it is possible one owner transfer the wealth stemming from the value of the asset from the rest of the owner.
Until the other owners see real tangible benefits in the form of share price appreciation or dividend or other form of capital return, it is hard for all other owners to not consider such negative scenario playing out. Insto or other retail investors had lost trust in the management and board.
It takes time to build back the trust after its lost. That's the key point here.
