Interesting to see that Blacktip seems to be declining quite rapidly already. After peaking just above 50 TJ on 8/4 it's about to drop below 40 TJ after only a month according to the AEMO data.
It's possible they are restricting it due to demand but it is consistent with how Blacktip behaved the last few times they tried to increase production. An initial spike followed by very rapid decline.
If it does continue to behave like the previous times it will only have a few months in it. Then I suspect that will be the end of Blacktip, I'd be surprised if try again.
Might be some pretty nervous times at Eni's Darwin office at the moment. There are a few other undeveloped fields in the Bonaparte Basin, such as Frigate/Petrel/Term that could possibly be acquired and tied into Blacktip's infrastructure but even if that happened today it would be years before they could supply gas to it.
