Lockett and then on top of the EV’s hunger for power there is the rise of data centres which also need a huge amount of power to run which is concentrated in one area/suburb. These data centres are commonly referred to as “The Cloud”. See my post above.
The electricity regulations in WA were changed 18 months ago in recognition of EV chargers. Now to install an EV charger in a residence us electrical contractors have to either upgrade the incoming house electrical supply mains to a size that will allow enough current to “run” the EV charger so that the EV charger does not damage the electricity grid. Or install a circuit breaker on the house electricity supply limiting the amount of power that can be provided, again to protect the grid.
