@allens SIR discovered the Nova-Bollinger nickel discovery and was subsequently sold for US$1.8 billion. Sirius Resources(ASX: SIR) has defined a maiden contained JORC Resource of 242,000 tonnes of nickel, 100,000 tonnes of copper and 7,700 tonnes of cobalt at just its Nova deposit in the Fraser Range region, Western Australia.
Notably, the Resource does not include the recently discovered Bollinger deposit, which is currently being drilled.
About 90% of the 10.2 million tonnes at 2.4% nickel, 1% copper and 0.08% cobalt resource is in the Indicated category, sufficient as a basis for estimating a Probable Ore Reserve and undertaking a feasibility study.
This mineral resource estimate will form the basis of the scoping study, which will commence shortly.
No assumptions have been made as to mining methods other than that it will be by dominantly underground methods.
Preliminary metallurgical testing indicates recoveries of over 95% for both nickel and copper to a bulk concentrate.
Sirius’ geological model was audited by specialist consultants Optiro, who also estimated the resource.
Assays from drilling at Bollinger have confirmed the presence of both high grade massive sulphides and more extensive zones of lower grade mineralisation, highlighting its similarity to Nova.
Drilling is continuing to delineate this area and holes are also underway in several locations: north of the 700N line at the southern end of conductor 5; east of all previous drilling at Bollinger on the 700N line; and in the feeder zone that appears to connect Bollinger and Nova.@allens SIR found the Nova-Bollinger nickel discovery in 2021? on their last drill hole.
