you are right about gold left in the mill linings and also conveyer belts , crushers and CIL tanks from a previous operation being a potential accuracy issue , although is it a true indication of grade ( "accurate process readings ") by just running it through a HMS plant like a Gecko?

You are only going to get a proportion of the free milling gold at a certain large mesh size and not what is from if it was commutated down to 200 microns ie about what is standard practice when going through a CIL plant where even more of the gold particles are liberated .

Yes you can still test the tailings from the gecko plant , but you then have added another variable to have to calculate which will be a variable with a greater degree of error than testing the tailings from a CIL plant where recoveries are invariably higher and the gold left in tailings will be a smaller variable to calculate in its effect on variance .

One other option maybe would be a small pilot heap leach operation on site .
