Most mines have grid connection and diesel back up. It is significantly cheaper and more environmentally friendly.

Without having details of the power requirements for Tormin, its a little difficult to determine the cost savings.
Management obviously ran the numbers and thought it was in the companies interest to connect the mine to the grid.

When you consider next to the mine is a wind farm, I seems more sensible to use the renewable energy that is sitting right at the mines back door.
