    I did advise you to read the EPA documents.

    What you will find is the Munglinup river is saline, they believe the underground water maybe connected to the river system which results in the saline water flowing underground into the river system. Its is interesting to read the salinity difference between the river and the bore holes.

    4.3.3. GOUNDWATER QUALITY
    The project area is within a zone where groundwater salinity is shown to be within the range 7,000 to
    35,000 mg/L TDS, with salinities in the upper end of that range in and beneath alluvium associated with
    the Munglinup River (Johnson, 1998).
    Groundwater salinities measured for water from the project bores and the Munglinup townsite holes, and
    from the WIR database, range from 8,300 to 31,000 (Fig. 6) in accordance with the reported range above.
    In the project bores salinities range from 19,400 to 24,500 mg/L TDS, and there is evidence of some
    increasing salinity with depth: in bore HDRC04, the salinity increased from 22,600 mg/L at 20 m depth to
    24,500 mg/L TDS at 66 m (total depth).


    Anyway, if you can read the table above and the Ground water quality, you will see MRC's bore water salinity is either inline with the Munglinup river systems salinity or below.
