My last post, 'mea culpa' I'm afraid. Too much haste. I forgot to subtract current assets from total assets in the 1st column, and I could not leave that error on the record so have put the corrected table in this post and have added a 4th column to show the percentage of equity to fixed assets.

But well worth using the balance sheet (or statement of financial position as it is now called) to see what the cash has been used for on one side and where the cash came from on the other side.

So total assets (current + non-current) show where the money has been spent (ie $445.5m for MML).
And owners funds (equity) + total liabilities (current and non-current) show where the cash came from (ie $412.3m + $33.2m for MML).
And obviously the two sides balance out.

Here is the corrected table - sorry for the earlier error.

Stock: Fixed Assets, Equity, Retained earnings/deficit, Equity/Fixed Assets
    NCM: 12,320, 7,707, -5,365, 63%
