    Hi ozwire,

    Some quick points...

    1. They actually said in this qtly (on p4), the following :-
    - "Eden is targeting commercial trials of the US developed products within the next 6 months with the objective of developing a commercial product for limited applications within the next year if possible, and to complete the development for the other, wider scale applications within 2-3 years, opening up a very large global market for its nano-carbon products over the next few years."

    2. The buses to be used in the trials will be running on Hythane, not pure hydrogen. Hythane only uses around 5 to 7% hydrogen (by energy) in the mix, with the remainder being natural gas (which is generally 90%+ methane). Hence, the amount of hydrogen required to run Hythane fueled buses is significantly (or massively) less than running them on pure hydrogen. Hence also there would be a lot less volume of carbon nanotubes produced as a by-product of the required hydrogen production process.

    3. The pyrolysis reactors are modular, and hence theoretically can be scaled up to almost any size/volume. I believe they trialed a prototype of a larger reactor (as you said), but this presumably is not classified as "commercial" at this stage (bearing in mind that they have scaled back CNT production due to the lack of large scale commercial markets at present).

    4. What are they going to do with that mountain of soot??

That is what they are concentrating on, and hence the collaborations with universities (among other things) to try to find large scale commercial markets for the CNTs...

    Rgds, W.
