Govt. is too tight trying to cream off 'excess' profits using either Eskom to do the job for them or by using export controls to force you to sell the coal below the international price to the domestic market, which can then offer you a really low price.

Sun111, I think you know the outlook for coal prices is for them to improve from the middle of next year, whereas the iron ore price is set to bomb next year (Goldman Sachs says demand for iron ore is growing at 3% but supply at 10%). I am sure the IKW BOD is not worried about the current low coal price: I think the delay is more likely to be due to intense bargaining about the price at which domestic coal sales will occur at, and therefore whether they can get the requisite debt financing.
