I blame JW for this strike.

When he mentioned in the webcast that RSG's "big" gold find at Syama called Nafolo meant "treasure" in the local language, it started me thinking that while the locals may not understand what was going on they would immediately latch onto this name and try to extract some of that "treasure" for themselves.

I know JW means well but some of the things he does are a bit on the daft side - the entry into Egypt and the promotion of Syama's "wealth to the locals are irking me.

But here is JW's press release on the strike - seems things are OKish for now

I expect more worker action over time unless JW pulls his head on promoting Syama's "wealth" to the locals as a cash cow. It is not as if investors have made much in dividends over the years its operated and there is always the govt ready to put its hand out as well. Miners are the best paid workers in west Africa, especially in Ghana.
