Here's one of the drivers for growth in lead: the appearance of the LSEV = low speed electric vehicle. 1.75M units sold in China in 2017. Uses lead-acid battery for low cost. They start at $1000, and already there are 400 companies building them:


The LSEV market is expected to grow to USD $68B annually by 2025, probably mostly in developing urban societies like China, India, some emerging super cities in Africa, and so on, and lead-acid batteries will remain the chemistry of choice for keeping costs down (vs NiMH, Lithium ion, etc.)
