I should further define that my method usually works (for me) in that I end up making money on my overall position - i.e. I sell at a higher price than my average cost basis, for that stock. But it's important to be honest with yourself (I think) and acknowledge that even if you sell at a price higher than your average cost, it may still be below the price where you first bought it. So really your first investment in Co. XYZ was poor and you lost money, but your subsequent investments in that Co. were really good, which allowed you to profit overall. That's how the accounting works too at tax time - so your Broker's itemised report for your XYZ transactions, should highlight that.

Good luck to you too Smithy. I think most people are down on their MLX investments, so you have plenty of company (myself included). The only bright light for me with this Co. atm is the WGX spin-off, which is finally getting its act together (after fiddle-farting around for a couple years). I think MLX has similar potential FWIW, though obviously we're a long way away from that.
