Do you see any shorts scrambling to cover after unexpected quarterly result as fund managers pour in to grab cheap shares on offer?
That's what usually happens when stock is shorted but company releases results that contradict bearish bets by short fund managers...
Lowball TO happen in the way you described but usually to companies that are in distress. Not the ones that are doing good. They get TO offer @ premium on their all time highs....
