China is heavily involved in Africa. From what I can see China is Africa's largest trading partner mainly in infrastructure, mining with tourism building. B.F. Unfriended Taiwan and has been getting " help" from China. I don't know how effective the continents screening procedures would be for travellers but would hazard a guess as basic.
