We are going to start mining the satellites this Q, within the next 2 months, presume stock piling the ore till the plant starts processing it in May/June.
At the moment we have 6.3m tonnes pa going through the CIL plant. It's nameplate capacity is 4.5mtpa so I assume the crushing/grinding circuits are the limitation.
They plan to produce 80,000 oz pa when they start processing the satellites, that is based on blending the tailings/hard rock, ignoring the tailings & just using N'Tiola's 1.25g/t implies a throughput of 2.2m tonnes per annum, so roughly only at 50% of capacity.
(2.2m x 1.25g/t x 91% recovery / 31.1 (grams to oz) = 80,000 oz)
Only going at 50% capacity could be for several reasons
- mining limitation - though we will have a bit of a stock pile
- Trucking limitation
- Power limitation - most likely IMHO until we get the BOO (build own operate) long term solution
- Reduced to allow for teething problems, even new plants only usually get 95% utilisation
In any case, the tailings mining is limited, once we start mining the higher grade satellites with around 91% recovery, the AISC will come right down remembering at present we're mining tailings of 0.45g/t with 52% recovery. Processing 1.25g/t ore with 91% recovery, even with the added cost of the grinding/crushing circuits is far more economical and production goes from 40k oz pa to 80k with the plant operating half speed.
