The weather is the weather. The same thing happened to WHC if memory serves, their share price after 10 days was hardly unchanged. The share price for pretty much all shares will go up when a quarterly report is due if the overall market thinks it's going to be good, the important thing here is this is a known effect, it's called pricing in future projected gains. The same effect up to a dividend coming due, or you could just buy into dividend stocks about to go ex and make a mint. If you buy in on the rise and it doesn't turn good, well that's your problem. Also, it's not as if the weather is some great secret, you could have put 2 and 2 together and reckoned they might be impacted.

Companies are not obliged to report partial 'business as usual' type impacts, the weather being one of those - it's a mine, it rains, you get logistic problems. Now if the mine had somehow got totally flooded out and it would have taken months to get back on track, yep that's a material impact stopping totally the revenue stream and an announcement would have been warranted. Similar to the loader outage at Newcastle, an impact they had no control over. In this case, they probably reckoned they could catch back up with the target but didn't quite get there in the end.

As I have pointed out in other posts the 7% down is more than offset by the record sale price of coal atm, so a bit less gold in your pocket, but still a good amount.

I reckon the share price will pull back to within 2 to 3% of where it was last night within 3 trading days - remember pricing in the future gains and the more they deliver good dividends, the better the future pricing in...
