Lynas just picked the wrong part of Malaysia to operate. They would've been far smarter to have the plant built in Sarawak which has the cheapest hydro power in the world and the only place where dams are constantly FULL. The OM Sarawak alloy plant has a 20 year power contract at US$0.035/kWh. Cheap power and plenty of water, no import or export taxes and a purpose built harbour across the road.
