I was in Australia (sadly) but this was near Keighley, England (not far from Bradford and Leeds) two days ago during the preserved railway's bi-annual 'Steam Gala'.
Plenty of demand for heating Pommy homes, and while I've not checked, if the cold weather was also the case across the Channel in various European nations, the need for thermal coal would have increased:
