One risk is that the new State Labor government in NSW will from 1 July 2024 impose higher royalties on coal.
It's seeking "consultation" according to the 'AFR'.
Anyone with any knowledge of history knows Labor/Green governments are tax and spend merchants (and hopeless as we see in Victoria at keeping infrastructure costs anywhere near Budget).
Unfortunately, we can almost back it in there'll be increased taxes on coal, a la what Pallychook did in Queensland.
This inhibits investment and ultimately costs jobs but that's Labor for you. Electors who ignore warnings reap as they sow, but unfortunately every one else suffers as well.
