The former BCI MD Alwyn Vorster, always suggested that other minerals/products could be extracted from the Mardie Salt brines, once in production.
Magnesium was/is the obvious one apart from SOP, however I believe the extraction of Li from Sea Water, compared to sub-terranean brines, is, whilst possible, not considered economically viable, at least compared to other current Li sources, such as hard rock and underground brines.
For relevant research to BCI's position, I'd be suggesting more interest in what small, local Aussie ASX list company, Rewards Minerals (RWD) appears to be doing, and posted on their website yesterday -
https://rewardminerals.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/2023-08-11-RWD-Patent-Application-Update.pdf
It will be very interesting to see how BCI progress their SOP aspirations, which, other than design work, has been largely taken out of the recent 'Base Case' update. BCI are targeting debt finance for the SOP Plant in 'late 2024'.
Interesting times.
