Buying Chinese stocks has the added dynamic of the VIE structure. Unbelievably, A share in the US traded Baba or Tencent is actually not a share in the Chinese company. Buying companies which have exposure to emerging market growth, but which reside in juristictions with rule of law is a good strategy. Best example and most crowded with China would be European luxury.
Yes the risk of Naga going to zero is very, very low. Its an asset to the government. As I said though, a coup or revolution is a small yet ever present risk.
Similar risks in Vietnam for Aristo, although I would guess smaller. That dictatorship is far more entrenched, like China.
