I read ages ago that it was bought from the owner, Robertson ,for a song. It was known as NOHOPE mine back then but agfter the sale to SOL it suddenly became worth a lot. shareholders at the time were very unimpressed by the outcome and new found value.
Pretty sure Robertson got on the board of NHC as well, he is/was the father of the wise QC/KC Geoffrey Robertson.
Of course if this all spurious rumour someone wiser will sort me out.
