Your work is usually based on fact and reason CJ, but I can't let that one slide. Burning wood absolutely will create CO2, and if you don't plant some more, the effect will linger. Your statement suggests that if we burn all of the wood on earth, there's no problem ... think about it.
For cow pats, it's a little more complicated, but burning them will increase CO2 in the atmosphere, whereas if left on the ground, they will break down and help more trees to grow, which will sequester carbon.
