Yep, the driller is paid by the meter.
The drillers that we worked with were making about 2 grand a day. Head driller that is. I am not sure what the other assistants got.
The long holes must have been hard for them.

Back then. It was a geo at the drill site and two fieldies. In years past it was just one fieldy but that changed because of health and safety.
The fieldy is running around like a blue assed fly when the initial drilling gets going.

You need the Geo on site during drilling......or it is best because he is watching every meter and the fieldies are sorting out all the sample bags and the rock chip samples.

We used to keep an eye on the quartz veining because that's where we used to fine all the gold. I used to take a couple of sample hand fulls and pan them out when we got back to camp. Always came up with gold.
