There is some good in buybacks, they reduce the SOI, which helps to increase value per share.

However that money can be also used elsewhere to also create more value per share or used for bigger dividends.

I guess when you think about it, it's probably better to be used elsewhere and expand the company, while not only creating more value for shareholders, it would also help create more jobs, which all has a positive chain effect for a better economy at a local level, state level and then onto a national level. Coal is good for the nation.
