first, thanks for the great analysis further up...
yes, agree with the shorts volumes but that is not the point I am trying to make. my point is they started going up at a very interesting time or about couple of weeks before someone started selling. that is about what it takes for a broker to try to find block sale for about 10M shares and those shorts have been moving higher and higher every day the broker could not make the order knowing the seller will be forced to sell on the open market. the selling party probably needed the funds fast so could not give their broker more than 2 weeks to fill the order.
also, looking at the volumes of the shorts (we have to take in consideration some momentum chasers here on both sides the shorting and the sellers who capitulated) they closely follow the volumes of what is being sold in recent days which makes me think someone tried to find block buyer while another party started betting they will not and started shorting the stock. once the big seller started offloading on the open market which I think probably started last Thursday-Friday (have to check when volumes picked up) the big shorter started to close their trade while some momentum short sellers continue to pile up thinking SP is falling because the big short is still in play not realising they are only helping the big short to exit at even better price.
everything culminated yesterday when the seller dumped the bulk of the load to stop the bleeding and this is when the big shorter closed their position. now only the momentum traders are left without noticing the seller is done and there is no big short in the play any longer. if POG moves further up the small short sellers will get burned big time as they are not big enough to keep the SP moving down without a support of a whale and a keen seller - the last two are gone.
if we see shorts start falling in the next 3 days then I think I am right.
