Yeah, you're absolutely right, now I feel like small caps are more like a gamble rather than investing in the early days. Since most of the small caps fail, it is too risky to invest early. It's better to wait for it to grow to mid-cap, well at least wait for it to prove it has a product with increasing demands.
Like Peter Lynch said," you can wait till Walmart become public after 10 years and then invest, you can still 50 times your money." These concept stocks like AT1 and LDX, may have a good product, but it won't be late to invest till they get some meaningful contracts. If they don't, probably it means they are not as special as we thought.
With that being said, we never learn until we are actually in the market and invest on our own
