"FedEx, which is part of BiTA's standards board, launched a pilot program using blockchain to store data for dispute resolution, said vice-president of strategic planning and analysis Dale Chrystie. The project hopes to establish what data would be needed for a permanent ledger to ease disputes between customers sending and receiving goods through FedEx."

Now I suspect (but don't for sure know) that the Scharff implementation would be a pretty good pilot proof of this requirement.

This is something very valuable (i.e. read into that something that want to pay for to solve) to the logisitics provider.

Whilst it doesn’t mention Peru or Schaffer specifically it interesting that the first word on Fedex’s push into blockchain was around October last year. However it does mention trial(s) rather than a trial.

In October, FedEx joined the Blockchain Research Institute, a Canada-based organization designed to act as a hub for research into blockchain technology. Fedex is also a member of the Blockchain in Transporation Alliance (BiTA), an organization made up of executives operating in the technology and transportation sectors. BiTA aims to standardize blockchain principles and approaches in the freight industry
