I think they matter for any investment, even if it's simply to try and work out the potential opportunity cost associated with your investment decision.
e.g. if AR9 was priced at $15 today, you still buy?
I appreciate I've taken it to an extreme, but all I'm simply trying to do is work out what I think a reasonable price is today and where I think it may be in a year, 3 years and greater than 5 years.
If I can identify an alternative business that I think has a greater chance of say tripling my investment in one year and I believe AR9 would only hold constant for the year, I'd rather have my money elsewhere and revisit AR9 after that point.
