We have a 4m Tonne heap leach with grades between 0 and 10.2g/t. I've done a rough calculation based on the 11,000m of drill data and came up with an average grade of 0.91g/t after stripping out all 1m intercepts. (avg grade including 1m was 0.97g/t) 4million x 0.91 = 3640kg or 121k/oz After some brief research I discovered that recoveries for heap leaching gold can be as low as 50% but typically around 65%
Am I right to assume that there is around 75k-80k ounces of recoverable gold sitting in the leach heap - using leach extraction?
Am I right to assume that the material/ore has been mined, crushed and heaped but not activated at no cost to CMM?
Am I right to assume that given what we know, the 121k could be closer to reality if the company chooses to use this heap as ROM pad #2?
Based on this is it likely that CMM is adding some damn cheap ounces here, which will carry zero mining and crushing cost to feed mill....?
Of all the heap leach drill data only a handful of holes went beyond 36m. I assume this was to ensure that the lower membrane was not pierced?
Which led me to conclude that those handful of holes were drilled at the edges of the heap. The hole which stood out to me is CMHL278. Now I'm wondering if sterilisation drilling took place under the heap back then...?
