It is better than paying interest to the ATO of - I'm guessing - 11%. They've just saved shareholders 6%, if your guess - of 5% discount to the customer - is right. It's actually a good deal. (Of course, it could be argued they shouldn't be in this position to start with. But that's in the past.)
