I became an Afterpay shareholder AFTER I was an Afterpay customer.

Just because you think things in your mind, does not make them true.

I first became aware of Afterpay when a customer of mine wanted to integrate their Magento webstore into our ERP software. They sold light fittings for homes online.

I saw that their payment methods were Credit Card, Paypal, Direct bank transfer and this thing I'd never heard of called Afterpay. Afterpay was used MORE than Paypal and this really suprpised me as I knew Paypal and how popular it was, and here was this unknown thing which not only was used more than Paypal, but almost a third of their total payments was Afterpay.

I mentioned this to my girlfriend who had her own online business and webstore and we decided to setup her store with Afterpay. So, we got her a merchant Afterpay account and I setup Afterpay in the webstore.

To test this once gone live, I created my own Afterpay account and purchased something from her store to make sure everything works as expected in the live environment.

I was so impressed with the whole process I bought shares in the company.
