I wouldn't read much into the directors taking up their shares in the SPP since it's only 15k a head (small price to pay for a little window dressing and good PR) and besides which PB announced they would all participate in the offer.
remember PB is getting 10 million free shares as a sign-on bonus ... luckily for PB there was no performance clause.
