Can anyone explain why there is even a component of dividend in what is clearly a return of capital?
After getting reamed by Malian illegal border taxes, farked by their CGT, paying the ATO half of what remains is devastating.
It also means I gotta pay my ex a chunk due to my income being maxed out for that year, in what looks like two separate tax years. Great.
There will be literally SFA left for me after everyone else has had a bite outta my arse.
Why can the lot not be a capital return that we get a 50% CGT discount on? How do large holders benefit by it being a dividend instead (which I assume is the reasoning)?
