The current cash burn for C.R.'s in this sector is just over $1BL. Quite staggering when you consider that only one (1) of the 30+ registered public companies in the Aussie Cannabis space is in genuine profit. That company is part of a large multinational with about ten years of experience but still, as the data shows, carrying huge expenditure to produce the result they did.
I think, at the moment, Australia does not have a significant enough population to carry these many players, considering you also have probably as many privates in the same space too, all vying for a piece of the Cannabis pie. We probably only need about a 1/3 of the companies currently operating in the space, IMO. And as hard as that sounds, coming from someone who has had to clean up companies in my past, it might take some further knife cutting/mergers/reduction of production lines/focused niche products and conservation of funds to wait out the culling before we see the real dollars come in.
