Why are there always shareholders who expect significant news in a quarterly?!
- Any publicly available significant news has to be released immediately.
- The quarterly is always about a month after the end of the quarter.
- Therefore a quarterly update cannot possibly contain previously unpublished significant news!
The purpose of the quarterly is to provide an update on the cash flow/balance situation so people can make decisions about how things are going financially, and to provide a summary of the quarter's news all conveniently packaged into one announcement.
