While there haven't been any updates in the last couple of week, in Melbourne there's three proposals for major intermodal terminals to eventually replace Dynon, Melbourne (which to my mind is conveniently situated very close to the Port of Melbourne, but from which double stacking of containers on rail is not possible):
1. Beveridge on the Melbourne - Sydney rail line ('the QUB proposal'). This would allow containers to be double stacked by rail to Brisbane once Inland Rail is finished (which is years off given the disputes in Queensland as to the route, and whether an extension to the Port of Brisbane will be built).
2. Little River on the Melbourne - Adelaide line ('the Pacific National proposal'). No double stacking to Brisbane.
3. Truganina west of Melbourne ('the Victorian Government proposal').
